Rough Day

Ben had a bit of a rough day!  He’s hanging in there, but the pain for him can be overwhelming at times.  We are trying a lot of different medications and combinations, but it can be tricky to stay ahead of it.  Surprisingly, the halo on his head – picture a steel bowling ball frame – which has 6 GIANT SCREWS STUCK IN HIS HEAD is not causing the pain.  All of his pain is from the anchor installed in his  lumbar area.  We also started traction on him today; we have attached 5 pound weights to the bowling ball frame on his head so he is pulled slightly upward all the time.  I will explain more about halo traction in the future.  It’s been a long day, but we’re hanging in there.  We expect the pain to start subsiding Saturday.

  1. Ben, I feel sorry that you are in pain and I hope they find something to make you feel more comfortable. I am trying to visualize you and your mom by your side and I can see so much love and compassion. Sending you positive energy and warm thoughts. Solange

  2. I am so sad to hear. Please know I hope and pray it gets easier for you both. Hang in there.

  3. I wondered whether this would be a hard day for Ben & you. I’m sorry to hear that it’s been two steps forward, one step back. Praying that the doctors can figure out the right mix of medications to keep him comfortable and that tomorrow will be a step forward again.
